Quality Technician – 2nd Shift

The Quality Technician will fill an essential role in the monitoring and advancement of our quality programs. Through daily monitoring, measurements and process checks for launched products and through measurement, analysis and testing for products in the validation phase, the Quality Technician will ensure the integrity of our products.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect, measure & test parts using gauges, Coordinate Measuring Machine, tensile tester and other Quality related equipment , including both non-destructive and destructive testing procedures
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and reports
  • Monitor production processes & products to ensure that the products and manufacturing processes meet both the company’s quality & safety standards
  • Support in the development of production procedures
  • Complete internal process audits to help ensure procedures are being followed; at higher-level, independently complete process audits externally
  • Perform performance validation tests to meet customer specifications
  • Ensure calibration of all quality tools in compliance with required frequency, including maintaining records
  • Record the results of all inspections using data spreadsheets
  • Inspect incoming parts & raw materials to ensure they meet required specifications
  • Work within the company policies to manage the quality assurance aspects of new product introduction (APQP) & interact with Customers on quality related issues
  • Trouble shoot issues in the quality setting
  • Support training of production personnel on both Quality and Safety requirements
  • Participate in lean manufacturing/improvement activities
  • Responsible and has authority to take action to ensure that the Quality of the product meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations
  • Operator fill-in as needed in other departments
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

 REQUIREMENTS:  

  • High school diploma or GED required at entry-level; 4 years’ experience required in a quality related role in a manufacturing environment at higher-level
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) preferred at entry-level; required at higher-level
  • Proficient with measurement tools including calipers and micrometers and ability to perform basic math
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Ability to read blue prints/drawings, familiarity with the metric system
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Forklift and Crane trained and Certified
  • Familiarity with ISO9001:2015 standards and OSHA requirements preferred at entry-level; ISO9001:2015/TS16949 and OSHA General standards certification required at higher-level
  • Observe personal safety precautions and communicate safety issues as well as identify unsafe conditions and poor safety practices
  • Communicate with co-workers and team leaders informing them of trends and potential problems
  • Ability to keep accurate records & follow documented procedures and standards
  • Strong attention to detail and be able to read part drawings to determine correct specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (SAP/CAQ)
  • Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand , as well as use arms and hands to handle metal parts
  • Exposure to plant environment, including elements such as noise, dust, heat, or cold

Team Lead (2nd shift) – Production Areas
POSITION/TITLE: Team Lead (2nd shift) – Production Areas
JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am, Monday - Friday

 

The team leader (2nd Shift) directly oversees the daily operations and workforce of the production (Assembly, Welding and Press) departments to maintain an efficient and safe production environment. This position is also responsible for any general maintenance, trouble shooting, and minor repair to production equipment as needed during 2nd shift operations.

 

TEAM LEAD DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees as determined by production/business needs, including approving time off requests, overtime, discipline, etc., in coordination with the Director of Technical Operations and Production Scheduling
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other reports to determine daily operation needs
  • Enforce safety regulations and policies as set forth by the company
  • Determine appropriate workforce capacity needs in coordination with Production Scheduling
  • In coordination with HR, conduct employee training in equipment operations, work instructions, and safety procedures OR assign employee training to experienced workers
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement Processes to continually strive for efficient and effective production processes
  • Act as an appropriate role model for production employees, including supporting business decisions, communicating effectively, leading by example, supporting and motivating employees, and managing conflict
  • Responsible and has authority to take action to ensure that the Quality of the product meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations
  • Operator fill-in as needed
  • Lead team meetings as needed
  • Any other activities as assigned by the Technical Director

 

GENERAL MAINTENANCE DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled minor repairs of production equipment during production and, as needed, perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Perform basic mechanic skills including, but not limited to, machine changeover, robotic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or minor repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Maintain inventory on machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior team lead or supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in an maintenance or manufacturing environment
  • Associate's degree, technical diploma or related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) required; SAP experience preferred
  • Familiarity with robotics programming preferred
  • Familiarity with MIG and robotic weld cell operations preferred
  • Familiarity with automotive assembly operations preferred
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and management informing them of trends and potential problems
  • Knowledge of General OSHA standards required
  • Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 lbs.
